PVC Plastic Card
Pure PVC plastic cards and PVC composite cards are ideal for printing long-lasting ID badges that can perform multiple functions. "PVC" stands for polyvinyl chloride, which is the material used to make the majority of plastic cards. What makes these cards so versatile is what can be embedded or applied on top of the plastic.
An ID can be much more than just a form of photo identification when used correctly. The right printer, combined with the right type of software, can turn a simple PVC plastic card into an access key, a credit card, or a time card.

PVC Cards for Multiple Functions
When a PVC plastic card is encrypted with a chip, backed by a magnetic stripe, or printed with a barcode, its powers increase enormously. It stops being just an ID card, and starts being a tool for transactions and management. Let's examine transactions first.
When a student ID is encrypted, it can be used to purchase dinner in the cafeteria, or books and supplies in the college bookstore. On some campuses, the student ID card can even be used to pay for washing laundry. When an employee ID card is encrypted, it can be used to purchase meals in the cafeteria, or snacks and sodas from the vending machine.
Plastic ID cards can help streamline payroll. When an employee uses her ID card to check in for a shift, her entrance is recorded by the computer. Because her arrival is already digitized, the data will not have to be entered by hand later. Cards can also be used to monitor productivity. If an employee is taking too many breaks during the work day, the card and computer will record this information.
